Board Member
Board Member Opportunity
Help steer a new bipartisan grassroots movement on AI safety.
We’re assembling a governing board to provide strategic oversight, governance, and networks. Board members ensure the movement grows fast, stays values-aligned, and sustains for the long haul. Let’s scale a movement to shape humanity’s future trajectory with artificial general intelligence.
About Us
Humans in Control is a new grassroots movement focused on AI safety and existential risk reduction. Our aim is to translate public concern into sustained political pressure that ensures artificial intelligence is developed and deployed safely, transparently, and responsibly.
We are not a “grasstops” lobbying shop. Instead, we are building a distributed, grassroots organization:
- Affinity groups (8–12 people) that meet weekly for campaign actions and community.
- Constituency-specific engagement (parents, faith leaders, engineers, students, health professionals, lawyers, artists…)
- Quarterly campaign “spikes” coordinated nationally (letters, teach-ins, district meetings, media pushes).
- State legislative focus — we support and amplify existing AI safety legislation through testimony, constituent pressure, and coalition partnerships.
Our leadership model is deliberately distributed:
- The Executive Director anchors strategy and keeps the AI safety focus.
- A Spokes Council and trained local leaders carry the charisma and storytelling.
- Directors of Policy, Organizing, Communications, and Operations own their lanes and co-lead the organization as peers.
We’re seeking founding team members and board leaders to help build this from the ground up.
